The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has once again reported the situation in Ghana to the Socialist International (SI) over what he describes as poor and incompetent leadership that is progressively putting the country’s economy on its knees.
The SI is a global organization of progressive political parties seeking to establish democratic socialism, and the NDC is a leading member on the African continent.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia, who is also the Vice President of SI, believes that if the country really wants to gain financial and economic freedom, then the current administration must make room for technocrats who really understand economics to manage the situation.
speaking on Okay FMs ‘Ade Akye Abia’ program, he explained that as vice president of the forum, he is supposed to explain to member countries the events in his country and there is no way he paints a bright picture when the opposite is what happens on the ground.
“The country, under the mismanagement of the NPP led by the government of Nana Akufo-Addo, has benefited immensely from global donor institutions during the Covid-19 pandemic, but there is nothing significant to show for all the many donations they have received financially.
“They even went to the IMF asking for financial support and things won’t get better unless the world hears the plight of the country and offers help in every way possible,” he said. he adds. he said.
The NDC General Secretary further stated that the economy will continue to dip and Ghanaians will experience more hardship simply because of the misdirection of the current NPP government.
“Ghanaians are in shock at this government and the authorities seem clueless about what they can do to help remedy the situation.
“I said it and I say it again, the president should fire the finance minister and disband the economic management team and make way for technocrats who understand economics to run the affairs of the country if we are to win the day. financial and economic freedom, “ he added.
