The City of St. Charles’ financial reporting practices have once again been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association.
For the 36th consecutive year, the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting. The award is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting, according to a press release from the City of St. Charles.
The award recognizes the City of St. Charles for demonstrating a spirit of full disclosure by clearly communicating the city’s financial position at year-end, the statement said. The Certificate of Achievement program encourages governments to prepare the highest quality financial reports for the benefit of their citizens.
The program has gained wide recognition as the premier indicator of excellence in government accounting and financial reporting. This latter price is for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2021.

“The City of St. Charles continues to be committed to the highest standards of financial disclosure and reporting, to following prudent fiscal policies, and to maintaining transparency and accountability,” said the St. Charles’ chief financial officer, Bill Hannah, in the release. “Our financial documents are always available online for everyone to access.”
